How do we choose spicule to develop new cosmetic?

Sponge spicule(hydrolyzed sponge) are insoluble in any organic solution, and they are hollow and porous, so they can be used as an introduction medium, and a natural raw material for exfoliation and skin rejuvenation.It is no special certificate required, non – surgical, non-traumatic and efficacious, especially for the treatment of acne, pigmentation, improving the skin elasticity and remove wrinkles. It can also be mixed with other cosmetics or drugs to achieve the effect of accelerating the exfoliation of keratin, which has an auxiliary effect on the treatment of scar removal and stretch marks. There are also studies that it can activate our hair follicles, open the skin absorption absorption channel, and assist hair growth.
How do we choose spicule to develop new cosmetic?
1.Content of spicule
The content on the market ranges from 0.1% to 99%.
It is recommended to choose 99%. Broken spicules and impurities in low content spicule powder would reduce the effect of the cosmetic. If dilution is required, just add 99% to other ingredients and mix well.
2.Spicule types
There is 4 spicule types for choice,100um/200um/270um/320um.Different spicule types suit for different parts of the skin,and have different functions.
3.Color
There are white, off-white, brown, and green for choice.
For premium products, especially for creams and essences, it’s better to choose off-white color spicule with 99% purity. Spicule is the bone of spongilla ,which is naturally off-white color instead of pure white. Pure white color spicule might be bleached by sodium hydroxide.
Brown spicule is a rough purified product. It is not suitable for creams. The impurities and organic matter contained may cause the cream being rancid.
Green spicule powder are a mixture of sponge spicule powder (white or brown) and seaweed powder (spirulina, chlorella).
4.Quality judgment:
a.Impurities and broken needles
By microscope observing, the less impurities and broken needles, the better quality.
b.Purification method
There are two main purification methods: acid-alkali extraction and fermentation extraction
It is strongly recommended to use spicule extracted by fermentation. Due to the porous and hollow structure of bone needles, the acid and alkali used in the acid-base extraction process cannot be completely removed, and the allergy rate after use is higher than that of spicule extracted by fermentation
6. Dosage
For premium spicule skin care, we should seek for a balance between effect and pricky feeling ,
It is not that the more spicule added the better.Generally speaking, 0.1-0.5% is added to daily use personal skin care products, and 5%-9.9% is added to professional products (used once every 7-10 days). For details, please consult with our personnel in R&D department.
